ProCon Showcases Key Contributions to Continence Care at ICS-EUS 2025 Abu Dhabi
The ProCon Erasmus+ Project was proudly represented at ICS-EUS 2025, the joint annual meeting of the International Continence Society (ICS) and the Emirates Urological Society (EUS), held in Abu Dhabi from 17–20 September 2025. The event gathered global leaders in continence care, offering a unique platform for scientific exchange, clinical innovation and collaboration.
Workshop: Incontinence in Long-term Care
One of the scientific highlights was the workshop “Incontinence in Long-term Care: A Pervasive & Insidious Problem”, delivered by ProCon members:
- Prof Adrian Wagg (University of Alberta, Canada) – Chair
- Prof Javier Jerez-Roig (ProCon PI, University of Vic – Central University of Catalonia, Spain)
- Dr Hannelore Strauven (KU Leuven, Belgium)
- Prof William Gibson (University of Alberta, Canada)
The session explored:
- the epidemiology and everyday challenges of incontinence in nursing homes,
- conservative management strategies tailored to long-term care settings,
- emerging smart technologies for continence support, and
- a practical clinical case with key take-home messages.
Scientific Contributions Across Sessions
ProCon researchers also participated in the session “Conservative Interventions Across Settings”, delivering podium presentations that connected clinical practice, technological innovation and research evidence.
Patient Awareness Campaign
Beyond scientific sessions, ProCon members supported the ICS Patient Awareness Campaign on Urinary Incontinence, held at the Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital in Abu Dhabi, contributing to public engagement and awareness-raising efforts.
International Recognition
ProCon’s scientific excellence was highlighted through several “Best in Category” awards, including:
- Staff experiences with technology-based continence devices (led by Prof Adrian Wagg)
- A consensus study on risk factors for self-management interventions in older men
- A rapid review of mobile technologies for bladder health (led by Prof Javier Jerez-Roig)
