Dear readers,
As the summer period offers a natural moment to pause and reflect, we would like to look back on the progress made by the ProCon consortium over the past six months.
In this edition, we are pleased to share some of the project’s key milestones, including the development of four ProCon online courses focused on continence care and resilience in healthcare settings, with a fifth course on innovation currently under development.
These courses have been co-created by a multidisciplinary team across different European countries, including Finland, Spain and Belgium, bringing together diverse expertise and perspectives.
Following the development of the ProCon Innovation Framework for Nursing Homes, we are also proud to announce the publication of the ProCon Educational Toolkit on Bladder Health.
Alongside these achievements, ProCon continues to strengthen its commitment to education, awareness- raising and knowledge exchange through webinars, stakeholder initiatives and participation in high- profile international scientific conferences.
In the following pages, we invite you to explore these developments in more detail.
We hope you enjoy this edition and would like to thank all partners, stakeholders and contributors for their continued support and dedication.
Resources for Residents & Families
Discover the New ProCon Educational Toolkit for Continence Care
As part of the ProCon project, we are pleased to introduce the Educational Toolkit for Continence Care in Long-Term Care, a practical and accessible resource designed specifically for patients, residents, relatives, and caregivers.
The Toolkit has been developed to support a better understanding of urinary incontinence and to offer clear, practical guidance for everyday situations. It brings together useful information on causes, triggers and patterns of incontinence, urgency and toilet access, continence products, skin care, communication, dignity and how to navigate the care system.
Rather than following the Toolkit from beginning to end, readers can explore its sections independently and focus on the topics most relevant to their own needs or circumstances.
Above all, this resource aims to support more person-centred continence care. By improving knowledge, confidence and communication, the Toolkit seeks to help people living with continence challenges, as well as those close to them, feel better informed, more supported and better able to preserve their dignity, comfort and quality of life.

Four Educational Courses Complete the Pilot Phase
The ProCon educational programme has reached an important milestone. Following months of collaboration, content development and review, four of the project’s online courses have now completed the pilot phase.
During this process, each course was tested by more than 30 participants, who provided valuable feedback on the content, accessibility, and practical relevance of the materials. Their contributions are now helping to inform the final refinements ahead of the courses’ official release.
The educational programme includes two courses on continence care and two on resilience and flexible working practices. All four have been designed to support healthcare professionals and students with an interest in long-term care. The educational programme includes two courses on continence care and two on resilience and flexible working practices. All four have been designed to support healthcare professionals and students with an interest in long-term care.
Together, these educational resources represent one of the key outputs of the ProCon project and will contribute to strengthening skills, knowledge and innovation capacity across this sector.
Co-Creating Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Healthcare
A three-day co-creation event was held in Leuven, Belgium, where 32 co-creators, including healthcare professionals, researchers and students from across Europe, worked together to develop the upcoming online course, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Healthcare.
Hosted by KU Leuven, the event combined collaborative workshops, expert insights and demonstrations of innovative healthcare technologies, creating a dynamic environment where education, practice and innovation came together.
The course is one of five open-access educational resources being developed through ProCon to support present and future healthcare staff and future leaders in long-term care.
Continuous Learning & Community
Expanding the Reach of Continence Care through GOLTC
ProCon’s collaboration with the Global Observatory of Long-Term Care (GOLTC) is creating new opportunities to expand the reach of continence- related topics in long-term care settings.
This collaboration has enabled the creation of a dedicated Continence Care Interest Group within the GOLTC platform. ProCon has already contributed to the development of five webinars addressing key topics in continence care in long-term care settings.
The latest webinar, Defining Quality in Continence Care for Older Adults, focused on how person- centred principles can enhance continence care by promoting dignity, autonomy and individualised support.
The session brought together international experts from Sweden and Canada. Anastasia Silverglow focused on the importance of listening to older people, Helle Wijk presented principles of person- centred care delivery, and Adrian Wagg explored how quality in continence care for older adults can be measured.
The webinar concluded with a lively Q&A session.

ProCon Showcased at Two Key International Events in Continence and Pelvic Health
This year, the ProCon project was presented at two major international events in the fields of continence and pelvic health, providing valuable opportunities to share its progress, emerging results and key outputs with relevant stakeholders.
In March 2026, ProCon was presented at the 41st Annual EAU Congress, held at ExCeL London from 13 to 16 March.
The congress, recognised as Europe’s largest urological event, brought together 12,366 delegates from 132 countries, including healthcare professionals, researchers, industry representatives and other key stakeholders in the urology field.
On this occasion, Professor Adrian Wagg presented the project’s ambition to improve continence management through innovation, entrepreneurship and education,

ProCon was also presented on 26 June 2026 during the Global Summit on Pelvic Health, held in Rome to mark the 20th anniversary of the World Federation of Incontinence and Pelvic Problems (WFIPP), one of the consortium partners involved in the ProCon project.
The summit brought together patient advocates, leading clinicians, policymakers, industry partners and international organisations committed to advancing continence and pelvic health. During the event, Javier Jerez-Roig presented the ProCon project, its current progress and the resources already available to patients, students, professionals and the wider public.
